Present Post: Waali, TMC Lagos State (2009 – till date)
I was born Monsur Adewunmi Oriyomi Adebayo. I hail from Ogun State and I belong to the Gbagura people while my hometown is Abeokuta.
I attended Municipal Primary School, Surulere and then Obele Community High School, Randle, also in Surulere. I then proceeded to Zulikha Abiola College of Islamic & Arabic Studies in Abeokuta after which I gained admission to study Accounting at Kwara State Polytechnic, Ilorin. I also have a postgraduate diploma in education from Lagos State University (LASU), Ojo. I am an accountant by profession.
I work with the chief imam of Lagos State House Of Assembly Mosque and the immediate past Special Adviser to the Lagos State Governor on Legal Matters (Now the High Commissioner for Home Affairs Lagos State), Barrister Abdulhakeem AbdulLateef at Al-Hikmah Chambers as the Principal Litigation Officer. I undertook my audit training at Olajide & Associates in Mafoluku, Oshodi. I also had a stint with the American Furniture Gallery in Victoria Island as an Accounting Officer. I also worked as an Accountant at Consumer Distribution Venture, a major distributor of Unilever Nigeria Plc before I moved as Finance Manager. Presently, I am a managing partner at my own firm, Alkanus & Associates.
I am happily married with three kids comprising two boys and a girl.
I joined The Muslim Congress (TMC) right from its inception and that was when I was working at Al-Hikmah Chambers in the early 90s.
First, at the inauguration of Kwara State chapter of TMC, I was appointed the pioneer Financial Secretary while I was schooling at the Kwara State Polytechnic. I have also been Amir of several organizations. I was Amir of Muslim Students’ Society of Nigeria (MSSN), Obele Community High School branch between 1988 and 1989. I was also the Amir of Al-Wajud Imodu-Din Society of Nigeria, Ejigbo. While under the mandatory one-year National Youth Service Corp (NYSC) scheme in River State, I was Amir of Muslim Corpers’ Association of Nigeria (MCAN) in the state. I also served as the Financial Secretary of the Eastern Zone of MCAN.
After I returned to Lagos, I was appointed the Roqib of Deleko branch of TMC, Oshodi/Isolo and later became the Naqib of Ejigbo District of TMC at the same Local Government. I later replaced the then Wakil, Sherifdeen Ashade as Acting Wakil. Thereafter, I was confirmed the substantive Wakil of Oshodi/Isolo TMC and after serving two terms and I was preparing to handover to face others endeavours, it came as a surprise for me to be announced as the new Waali of TMC Lagos State. It was a really tough one for me considering the responsibilities of the office. Alhamdulillah, I have taken it in my stride and I am moving on.
