1442 A.H (2021.C.E)

IN THE NAME OF ALLAH, THE BENEFICENT, THE MERCIFUL BEING THE EID-UL-FITRI KHUTBAH 1442AH (2021CE)
Praise be to Allah in an exceeding degree, praise be to Him for His favours and comfort. Praise be to Allah exceedingly, Allah is the greatest. Glory be to Allah morning and evening. To Allah is due all praises as it is pleasing to Him for all His uncountable blessings. Allah says:
﴿الْيَوْمَ أَكْمَلْتُ لَكُمْ دِينَكُمْ وَأَتْمَمْتُ عَلَيْكُمْ نِعْمَتِي وَرَضِيتُ لَكُمُ الْإِسْلَامَ دِينًا.. ﴾ {المائدة:5\3}
“This day I have perfected for you your religion and completed My favor upon you and have approved for you Islam as religion.” (5:3)
I bear witness that there is no god but Allah alone; He gives and takes life, He is able of all things. I bear witness that our leader, model, and master- Muhammad bn Abdullah is his chosen prophet and Messenger. May Allah bestow peace and blessings on him, his families, his companions and those who follow them in righteousness till the day of recompense. May Allah grant us the same and all righteousness servants of Allah.

Thereafter,
The day of Eid is a day of chanting Allahu Akbar:
The format of the glorification includes saying: “Allahu Akbar, Allahu Akbar, Lailaha illa Allah, Wallahu Akbar, Allahu Akbar, walillahil hamdu.” “Allahu Akbar, Allahu Akbar, Allahu Akbar, walillahil-hamdu.” (Allah is the greatest, Allah is the greatest, there is no deity except Allah, Allah is the greatest, Allah is the greatest, and to all belong all praises.)
This is intended to instill in believers that Allah is greater and superior to all powers, tyrants, domineering influences through wealth and authority. Islam taught pronouncement of Allah Akbar in every situation; while making the call to prayer, when establishing prayer, at the birth of a newborn, while praying the janazah, while slaughtering the ram, in battles, and on the day of ‘Eid, etc.

The takbeer: (Allah is the greatest, Allah is the greatest, there is no deity except Allah, Allah is the greatest, and to all belong all praises.). If people are keen on money … on heaps of gold and silver, then Allah is greater than money, and Allah is greater than gold. If people are keen on children, then Allah is greater than children. If they are keen on positions, then Allah is greater than positions. If people fear the men of status, or fear so and so person, or long for the provision of certain persons, then Allah is greater than all the people they fear, and greater than all they long for. Allah is the greatest, Allah is the greatest, there is no deity except Allah, Allah is the greatest, Allah is the greatest, and to all belong all praises.

The merit of Islamic eids: Our eid feastivals, as Muslims, begin with takbeer and begins with prayer. If, for some people, feasts are a source for desires and a toil of pleasures, of both the permissible and the forbidden. To us, eid contains joy, but not following the desire. Our feasts, as Muslims, were a grant from Allah to the ummah, as a reward for an obligatory act, and a symbol of the deen. The Eid al-Fitr comes after the fast, and the Eid al-Adha comes after the pilgrimmage.

Joyful mood of the ‘eid, how anf for who?:
Why are we joyful? Today is a day of feast of breakfast, the faster has two forms of joy, one when he breaks the fast and the other when he meets his Lord. 10\58}). “Say, "In the bounty of Allah and in His mercy – in that let them rejoice; it is better than what they accumulate." (10: 58). The joy of breaking the fast daily in Ramadan and that of completing the month including the acts of obedience granted him- solat, fasting etc. Ramadan is gone, either as a proof for us or against us, as well as an intercessor for those sincerely stood in prayer out of faith and hope for reward from Allah. Such would achieve forgiveness of sins past. Unfortunately some will have to face the consequences of their negligence, their portion for fasting is nothing except hunger and thirst, and fatigue from their standing in prayer.
Quite surprising is the case of those who stay among the Muslims but failed to fast or stand in prayers. In the hadith, the Prophet said: “He who breaks a fast in Ramadan without an (acceptable religious) concession or sickness, the fast of the lifetime would not atone that for him.” (Tirmidhi, Abu Dawu, Ibn Majah- A weak hadith). May Allah make the fast an evidence and an intercessor in our favour.
“Fasting and Qur’an would intercede for a servant on the day of judgement; the fast would say: O Lord, I prevent him from food and desires, thus accept my intercession on his behalf. And the Qur’an would say: I prevent him from sleep at night, therefore accept my intercession on his behalf. He said: the both intercessions would then be accepted.” (Ahmad, Tabraaniy).
Some people get excited that Ramadan is ended but they forget it represents flipping of pages of their lives, like the fading leaves of their lives. Al-Hasan said: “O son of Adam, you are a composite of some days, and as every day passes, some part of you goes.”

Those worshippers of Ramadan:
Some people are upright in Ramadan, but immediately Ramadan ends, that ends their relationship with Allah. They desert the mosques, neglect the Qur’an, they discard dhikr. Whoever worship Ramadan should know now that Ramadan is dead, but for he worship Allah, verily Allah is ever-living and never dies. Be a pious and godly person always and not the Ramadanists.

Fasting Six days in Shawwal
Islam has established six days of fasting in Shawwal to ensure continuous link with Allah for a Muslim, finishing an act of worship and commencing another. The Prophet said: “He who fast Ramadan and follows it with six in Shawwal, that will be like the fast of a year.”

Message to the scholars of the Ummah:
Dear scholars, you are heirs of the Prophets, the bearers of the banner of propagation and guidance after the Prophets! Verily your responsibility in the propagation of this religion correctly is great, and your stake in the reformation of our society is enormous, therefore we call on you to occupy the field of propagation and guidance, beware of negligence in the performance of this responsibility or concealment of what you have been given the knowledge or isolating yourself from the community, the risk therein is devastating. Lend your ears to Allah’s instruction:
إِنَّمَا يَخْشَى مِنْ عِبَادِهِ العُلَمَاءُ إنَّ اللهَ عَزِيزٌ غَفُورٌ (فاطر 28)
“Those truly fear Allah, among His Servants, who have knowledge: for Allah is Exalted in Might, Oft-Forgiving.(35:28)
{إنَّ الّذِينَ يَكْتُمُونَ مَا أَنْزَلْنَا مِنَ الْبَيِّنَاتِ والْهُدَى مِنْ بَعْدِ مَا بَيَّنَّاهُ لِلناسِ فى الكتابِ أُولَئك يَلْعَنُهُمُ اللهُ وَيَلْعَنُهُمُ اللاَّعِنُونَ, إِلاَّ الَّذِينَ تَابُواْ وَأَصْلَحُواْ وَبَيَّنُواْ فَأُولئك أتُوبُ عَلَيهِم وَأَنَا التَّواب الرَّحِيمُ }
“Those who conceal the clear (Signs) We have sent down, and the Guidance, after We have made it clear for the people in the Book,-on them shall be Allah’s curse, and the curse of those entitled to curse, Except those who repent and make amends and openly declare (the Truth): To them I turn; for I am Oft-returning, Most Merciful. (2: 159- 160)

Let there arise out of you a band of people inviting to all that is good, enjoining what is right, and forbidding what is wrong: They are the ones to attain felicity. (3: 104)

Message to the government
Prioritizing the security of our beloved country Nigeria
Servants of Allah! Security is one of the great blessings and big Favours from of Allah. Life is not good without it, and there can be no pleasant life living without it. That is why Allah made it one of the permanent blessings of the people of Paradise. Allah says: "Enter ye therein in Peace and Security; this is a Day of Eternal Life!". And He also says: "while secure they (reside) in the dwellings". The opposite of security is fear with which lives and properties are lost; (means of) religion become weakened:, routes and trade are cut off in fear, all endeavors are disrupted,, development is disrupted, evil and crime become widespread, chaos spreads, enjoining good and forbidding evil with wisdom and good admonition disappear, there is recession in welath, life becomes hard. Servants of Allah, in summary, fear paralyzes life as a whole and destroys it.
The government – whether federal or the states – must prioritize the security of this nation in its various types: security of life, religion, intellect, money, food, health, and others. Let the government know that one of its mandatory responsibilities is to actualize security and stability in the country.
Challenges posed by some scholars: The Bad Scholars
The story of Bal’am bn Baa’uraa and his likes among the strayed liers as mentioned in the Tafsir (At-tafsir Al-munir)
"And recite to them the story of him to whom We gave Our Ayat, but he threw them away; so Shaytan followed him up, and he became of those who went astray. 176. And had We willed, We would surely have elevated him therewith, but he clung to the earth and followed his own vain desires. So his parable is the parable of a dog: if you drive him away, he pants, or if you leave him alone, he (still) pants. Such is the parable of the people who reject Our Ayat. So relate the stories, perhaps they may reflect. 177. Evil is the parable of the people who rejected Our Ayat, and used to wrong themselves" (al-A’araaf: 175-177).
Exegesis and explanation:
Oh Messenger! Recite to the Jews, the story of the one whom we taught our verses (ie given knowledge) but he did not act upon it, he threw the verses (knowledge) behind him and was stripped from it permanently. So Shaytaan caught up with him and overtook him and became his companion. So he was able to whisper to him, and he listened to him (shaytaan), and he became one of the disbelieving evildoers because of his inclination to the world and the following of his own desires and the shaytaan.
He is a scholar among the scholars of the bani israeel, and it was said that he was from the Canaanites. It was narrated on the authority of Ibn Abbas that he was a man from Yemen, whose name was Balam ibn Ba`awra. He was given knowledge of the Book of Allah, then he turned away from them, disbelieved in the verses and signs of Allah and threw them behind his back.
Some manifestations of bad scholars in our contemporary society
Mocking the Qur’aan and the Messenger (Peace and Blessings of Allah be upon him) and the righteous people (may Allah have expansive mercy on them)
"And when you see those who engage in [offensive] discourse concerning Our verses, then turn away from them until they enter into another conversation. And if Satan should cause you to forget, then do not remain after the reminder with the wrongdoing people.". (Al-An’aam: 68)
Servants of Allah! it is part of the corruption and transgressions of this time that some modern scholars and their followers go into the verses of Allah, the Most Glorified and Exalted, and His Messenger (Peace and Blessings of Allah be upon him) and the early righteous people (may Allah have Mercy on them). So we think that it is our responsibility as the servants of the religion and knowledge to defend the Sunnah and its people, the people of trust and purity.
Oh honorable Muslims! These perpetrators delve into the verses of Allah Almighty – glorified and exalted, and into the hadiths of the Prophet (Peace and Blessings of Allah be upon him) interpreting the Qur’aan and giving explainations of the hadiths with ignorance and self desire, not fearing the day when they would return to Allah, the Avenger, the Owner of Glory and Honour. Allah Almighty said: “And be mindful of a day on which you will return to Allah and then all souls will be recompensed with that which they have earned and they will not be wronged” [Al-Baqarah: 281].
These evil scholars have dwelled on the great noble companion, Abu Hurairah, Abd al-Rahman ibn Sakhar, (may Allah be pleased with him) and the great contemporary imaam, Muhammad ibn Ismail al-Bukhaari and they said that they would focus on Imam Muslim as well. SubhaanaLLah!!!.
Recommendations for Women:
Oh women of the believers, Allah Almighty said: "And the believing men and the believing women, they are friends of each other. They enjoin Al-Ma’rûf and forbid from Al-Munkar and keep up the prayer and give alms (the Zakât) and obey Allah and His Messenger. These, Allah will show mercy to them. Surely Allah is All-Mighty, All-Wise. (Repentance 71), Oh you Muslim women, half of the population of the Ummah or more are female, so fear Allah Almighty in your duties that Allah has placed on you. Be th best to your children with beneficial Islamic training and education. Strove in preparing your children successful. Women are more influential on her children than the father. And be good to your husbands by living well with them, and by safeguarding your chastity, their honour, wealth and home, and taking care of the rights of their relatives and their guests and their neighbors: "…Thus righteous women are obedient and guard the rights of men in their absence under Allah’s protection…" (an-Nisaa:34). "if a woman prays the five daily salaat,, fasts Ramadhaan, performs Hajj, she protects her chastity, oobeyed her husband, it would be said to her: "Enter Heaven from any of its gates you wish" (Ahmad and Al-Tabarani).

THE SECOND SERMON
Praise be to Allah, the Lord of the Worlds, Who honoured his Prophet Muhammad (Peace and Blessings of Allah be upon him) with the miracle of the israai wal-Mi’iraaj. Allah Tabaaraka wa-ta’ala said: " Glory be to the One Who took His servant ˹Muḥammad˺ by night from the Sacred Mosque (in Makkah) to the Farthest Mosque (in Jerusalem) whose surroundings We have blessed, so that We may show him some of Our signs. Indeed, He alone is the All-Hearing, All-Seeing.." (Al-Israa:1). We praise Him, we thank Him, we seek His help and we seek guidance from Him. We ask forgiveness and we repent to Him. I testify that there is no god worthy of worship except Allah alone. He has no partner and I bear witness that Muhammad is His slave and Messenger. Oh Allah, bless him and bestow peace on him and his family and his companions and all of their followers until the Day of Judgement.
Thereafter, Oh servants of Allah! It is of great regret at the present time the occupation and attacks on worshipers in Al-Aqsa on the last Friday of Ramadan 25-9-1442 AH (7-5-2021CE).
Activists broadcast dozens of videos on social media that show the Israeli occupation police assault on Palestinians in the vicinity of the blessed Al-Aqsa Mosque, on the last Friday of Ramadan.
The director of the Al-Jazeera office in Ramallah, Walid Al-Omari, stated that large forces of the occupation police stormed the courtyards of the blessed Al-Aqsa Mosque on Friday evening, fired sound and tear gas canisters at the worshipers, and arrested a number of them, and the Palestinian Red Crescent stated that 53 people were injured as a result of the attack by the Israeli forces.
The confrontations between the occupation forces and the worshipers began at Bab al-Silsilah, one of the gates of the Temple Mount, and the affair moved to the inside of the mosque’s courtyards after the occupation forces stormed them, while large crowds of worshipers tried to remove those forces from the place.
Al-Quds (Jerusalem) in the belief of Muslims
Oh honorable Muslims! Al-Quds in the Islamic belief has a prominent religious status. Muslims of all sects, groups and orientations agreed on this because it is the consensus of the whole Ummah, and it is not surprising that all Muslims agree to the obligation to defend Al-Quds and to protect it jealously, and to defend its sanctity, honour and holiness. They are ready to expend their soul and precious wealth in order to protect it, and to repel its aggressors. It represents, in the Muslim consciousness and in the awareness of Islaam as: the first qiblah, the land of Al-Israa wal-Mi’iraaj, the third of the greatest cities (mosques), and, the land of prophethood and blessings, as well as being the land of battles and Jihaad.
Ad-Du’a.
