All praises belong to Allah, Lord of the Universe. He is the One Who favours whomever He wills among His servants by guiding them to Eeman, and He makes the detest disbelief, wrongdoing and disobedience. I bear witness that there is no deity worthy of worship except Allah alone. He has no partner. He is Absolute in His Perfection, His Majesty, His Greatness and in His Authority. I bear witness also that our leader and our prophet, Muhammad is His slave and Messenger, the one that was sent to the whole of mankind and Jinns. He conveyed the message of his Lord and explained the goal of the message. May the Peace and Blessings of Allah be upon him and his household and companions who fought rightly in the path of Allah until they spread justice, security and the Faith. May the abundant Peace of Allah be upon them all.
Thereafter, I enjoin you and myself with the fear of Allah, the Almighty. Fear Allah so He may have mercy on you in accordance with the Words of Allah Ta’alah: "O you who have believed, fear Allah. And let every soul look to what it has put forth for tomorrow – and fear Allah. Indeed, Allah is Acquainted with what
you do. And be not like those who forgot Allah, so He made them forget themselves. Those are the defiantly disobedient." (Al-Hashr: 18-19).

Brothers in Faith! The topic of our sermon today will be about: the importance of security in the land and the necessity of preserving it. The reason for choosing this topic at this time is the condition of our country Nigeria in general and some parts of Yorubaland in particular, in the South-West, ranging from insecurity, kidnapping, tribalism and crises between herders and farmers within the towns. One of the aims of this sermon is to call for balance between the those that want a resolution and those committing evils.

Dear honorable Muslims! The scholars of the Deen have made it clear that the pristine Islaam indeed encourages the preservation of security and the stability of countries (fatherlands) and it considers it as one of the conditions of Eeman, confirming that the blessing of security has a close correlation with the renaissance and advancement of nations. If there is general security in the land, everybody feels safe and secure and productive. In the absence of security, the nation cannot achieve development or advancement.

Brothers in Faith! You should know that security and safety are two of the most important pillars of the society and its stability. There can be no stability or economic prosperity without security. There can be no development or advancement or progress or a flourishing society. It is for these reasons why our prophet Ibrahim (May the Peace of Allah be upon him) when he prayed for his son Ismail and his wife, Haajar, the first thing he prayed for was security and safety. He said, according to the text in the Qur’aan: "And [mention] when Ibrahim said, “My Lord, make this a secure city and provide its people with fruits – whoever of them believes in Allah and the Last Day.” [Allah] said. “And whoever disbelieves – I will grant him enjoyment for a little; then I will force him to the punishment of the Fire, and wretched is the destination.” (Al-Baqarah:126). He called for the place to be safe, and to provide its inhabitants with the fruits so they can attain food security and psychological security, in addition to general security. Dr. Jumah, the Egyptian Minister of Endowments said: Given the importance of security in the life of countries, Allah, the Almighty, swore by it, and said: "By the fig and the olive1816 2. And [by] Mount Sinai 3. And [by] this secure city [i.e., Makkah]" (At-Teen: 1-3). And our prophet (Peace and Blessings be upon him) said: “He who wakes in the morning safe,, healthy in his body, and he has sustenance for the day, it is as if the he has the whole world fully available for him”. Islaam considers man’s keenness to provide security for others and his fulfillment of this as a condition of Eeman. Establishing justice is one of the ways of preserving the favour of security and stability, establishing true justice among all the people of the nation, for Allah Almighty supports the just nation, even if it is a country of unbelievers, and He does not support the oppressive nation even if it is a Muslim nation. What is meant by justice is:
A – Achieving justice in all its aspects of justice in ruling
B – Fairness in speaking, and division
C- The distribution of wealth
D- Access to job opportunities
E – Equal opportunities in health, education and social welfare.
One of the means of preserving the blessing of security and stability is to apply the law decisively to the young and the old without hesitation, courtesy or favoritism. Our Prophet [Peace and Blessing be upon him], said: “The people before you were destroyed. If the highly placed people among them steals, they left them, and if the lowly common people steals, they humiliate them and cut their hands.”
Brothers in faith, Islam legislated some of the rulings that protect the soul, property and honor, thus it prescribed retribution to protect the soul, it prescribed the punishment for theft to preserve the property, it prescribed the punishment for adultery and slander to preserve the honor, and also it prescribed the punishment for bringandage for the perpetrators of evil on earth, thus Allah, the Most Exalted says:
“Indeed, the penalty for those who wage war against Allah and His Messenger and spread mischief in the land is death, crucifixion, cutting off their hands and feet on opposite sides, or exile from the land. This ˹penalty˺ is a disgrace for them in this world, and they will suffer a tremendous punishment in the Hereafter.” (Al-maidah: 33)
He stressed the importance of spreading the values of solidarity and compassion among all the citizens of the country. A country where there is no mercy will not be safe, we are all in one ship. Our Prophet, may Allah’s peace and blessings b be upon him, said: “The Prophet said, "The example of the person abiding by Allah’s order and restrictions in comparison to those who violate them is like the example of those persons who drew lots for their seats in a boat. Some of them got seats in the upper part, and the others in the lower. When the latter needed water, they had to go up to bring water (and that troubled the others), so they said, ‘Let us make a hole in our share of the ship (and get water) saving those who are above us from troubling them. So, if the people in the upper part left the others do what they had suggested, all the people of the ship would be destroyed, but if they prevented them, both parties would be safe."

The (Maqasid) Objectives of the Sharia: Dr. Jamal al Nassar, a researcher in behavioral philosophy and Islamic philosophy, said: Undoubtedly, everyone needs to live within the confines of security and stability, thus the individual needs security for the protection of his life, religion, honor and property. in his life

Islamic law made preserving these necessities one of its most important objectives, and Islam places social security before shirk (polytheism) with Allah in the same way it is keen on achieving economic security. Allah the Exalted says: (وَضَرَبَ اللَّهُ مَثَلًا قَرْيَةً كَانَتْ آمِنَةً مُّطْمَئِنَّةً يَأْتِيهَا رِزْقُهَا رَغَدًا مِّن كُلِّ مَكَانٍ فَكَفَرَتْ بِأَنْعُمِ اللَّهِ فَأَذَاقَهَا اللَّهُ لِبَاسَ الْجُوعِ وَالْخَوْفِ بِمَا كَانُوا يَصْنَعُونَ) “And Allah sets forth the example of a society which was safe and at ease, receiving its provision in abundance from all directions. But its people met Allah’s favours with ingratitude, so Allah made them taste the clutches of hunger and fear for their misdeeds.” (Surah An-nahl: 12) All humanity need to live in peace and security so that the country blossoms and develops and the comfort of life is achieved for their children. Dr Nassar added: “One of the mechanisms for achieving security is spreading the culture of security and peace. We are all in need of the values of security, peace and tolerance in all its dimensions, which makes it imperative for everyone to spread these values in the society, homes and schools. That is why Islam’s greeting is “Peace be upon you,” and among the mechanisms to achieve security as well. is moderation, maintaining balance and avoiding extremism.

O honorable Muslims, Islam has directed Muslims’ attention to the importance of communal cooperation in exposing corrupters and saboteurs and getting hold of them with iron hand. Our Prophet peace be upon him said: "Help your brother, whether he is an oppressor or he is an oppressed one. People asked, "O Allah’s Apostle! It is all right to help him if he is oppressed, but how should we help him if he is an oppressor?" The Prophet said, "By preventing him from oppressing others and that is your helping him." (Agreed upon). ”We hereby affirm that Islam forbids all kinds of evil on earth, so corruption and assault on public and private properties or disrupting free movements on the roads or calling people to disrupt the path of life and everything that harms the nation’s interests that is not approved by any religion, or morality or sound mind. The society must stand together in the face of this evil, and all types of spreading evil on earth, everyone should perform his role in compliance with the saying of our Prophet, may the peace and blessing of Allah be upon him: “"Whoever amongst you sees an evil, he must change it with his hand; if he is unable to do so, then with his tongue; and if he is unable to do so, then with his heart; and that is the weakest form of Faith". [Muslim].

Praise be to Allah, the Lord of the Worlds, says in His Magnificent Book: ("يَا أيُّهَا النَّاسُ إنّا خَلَقْنَاكُمْ مِنْ ذَكَرٍ وَأُنْثَى وَجَعَلْنَاكُمْ شُعُوباً وَقَبَائِلَ لِتَعَارَفُوا إِنَّ أَكْرَمَكُمْ عِنْدَ اللهِ أَتْقَاكُمْ" [الحجرات:49/13],) " O humanity! Indeed, We created you from a male and a female, and made you into peoples and tribes so that you may ˹get to˺ know one another. Surely the most noble of you in the sight of Allah is the most righteous among you. Allah is truly All-Knowing, All-Aware. " [Al-hujuraat: 13]. We praise Him, glory be to Him, we thank Him, the Exalted. We shower blessings and prayer upon the best of His creation, our leader, Muhammad, his family, companions, and those who followed them in kindness until the day of Judgment.
As to what follows,
O servants of Allah, it is appropriate at this time to subject the events that occurred in Ibarapa, Oyo state to the Islamic view point, where Fulani tribe have been living for a long period of over fifty years, and because of the evil practice that is taking place in that region, such as kidnapping and unending crises among the Fulani herders and the Yoruba farmers. Some Yoruba youths went to the Fulani village in that region and ordered them to leave their land, where they have been living since these years, and gave them a final deadline of one week to evacuate the place. Eventually the matter became chaotic between the two tribes. The governor of Oyo State have spoken on the matter because he is responsible for everything that happens in his state. Dear brothers in faith, this issue is not a case of individual people, but rather it is a case of the state and the federal government. The most feared thing we fear is making it the issue of tribalism, which Islam has fought against in the Qur’anic texts and the hadiths of the Prophet.
In the early days of Islam, there was huge influence for the tribal spirit, and the fatherly glory, of the fathers and grandfathers which made the Qurayshites and the Arab tribes which made the arrogant stand in front of the clear truth. Islam forbids supporting the oppressor. In the noble Hadith: “Narrated Anas: Allah’s Apostle said, "Help your brother, whether he is an oppressor or he is an oppressed one. People asked, "O Allah’s Apostle! It is all right to help him if he is oppressed, but how should we help him if he is an oppressor?" The Prophet said, "By preventing him from oppressing others and that is your helping him." (Agreed upon)
Narrated Abu Huraira: that the Messenger of Allah (may peace be upon him) said: One who fights under the banner of a people who ate blind (to the cause for which they are fighting. i. e. do not know whether their cause is just or otherwise), who gets flared up with family pride, calls, (people) to fight for their. family honour, and supports his kith and kin (i. e. fignts not for the cause of Allah but for the sake of this family or tribe) -if he is killed (in this fight), he dies as one belonging to the days of Jahiliyya. (Muslim, explained by Al-Nawawi: 12/238). Allah says: “You will never find a people who ˹truly˺ believe in Allah and the Last Day loyal to those who defy Allah and His Messenger, even if they were their parents, children, siblings, or extended family.” (Al-Mujadilah: 22)
