THE SECOND SERMON OF THE MONTH OF RABI’UL-AWWAL, 12TH RABI’UL-AWWAL 1447AH (5TH SEPTEMBER 2025CE)
TOPIC: LOVE OF THE MESSENGER: BETWEEN FOLLOWING AND INNOVATING

THE FIRST SERMON


All praise is due to Allah who favored us with the best of His Messengers, revealed to us the most noble of His Books, and legislated for us the most perfect of His laws. I praise Him, Exalted is He, and thank Him. I cannot enumerate His praises. He perfected for us the religion and completed His favor upon us. He, the Most Generous, said:
﴿الْيَوْمَ أَكْمَلْتُ لَكُمْ دِينَكُمْ وَأَتْمَمْتُ عَلَيْكُمْ نِعْمَتِي وَرَضِيتُ لَكُمُ الإِسْلامَ دِينًا﴾ (المائدة: 3)
“This day I have perfected for you your religion, completed My favor upon you, and have approved for you Islam as your religion.” (Al-Māʾidah 5:3)

I bear witness that there is no god but Allah alone, with no partner, and I bear witness that Muhammad is the servant of Allah and His Messenger—may Allah’s peace and blessings be upon him, his family, and his Companions.

To proceed: I enjoin you and myself first to have true taqwa of Allah, for indeed taqwa is the command of Allah to all His creation and the counsel of His Messenger ﷺ to his Ummah. Allah the Almighty said:
﴿وَلَقَدْ وَصَّيْنَا الَّذِينَ أُوتُوا الْكِتَابَ مِنْ قَبْلِكُمْ وَإِيَّاكُمْ أَنِ اتَّقُوا اللَّهَ وَإِنْ تَكْفُرُوا فَإِنَّ لِلَّهِ مَا فِي السَّمَوَاتِ وَمَا فِي الأَرْضِ وَكَانَ اللَّهُ غَنِيًّا حَمِيدًا﴾ (النساء: 131)
“And We have instructed those who were given the Scripture before you, and you [Muslims], to fear Allah. But if you disbelieve, then indeed, to Allah belongs whatever is in the heavens and whatever is on the earth. And Allah is ever Free of need, Praiseworthy.” (An-Nisāʾ 4:131)

Dear respected listeners, from Allah’s mercy upon us is that He sent to us Muhammad ﷺ and commanded us to believe in him, affirm his truthfulness, follow him, emulate him, support him, love him, and give him precedence over ourselves, our wealth, and our children. Through him the religion was perfected, with him the line of Prophets was sealed, and to him the most excellent laws and the most noble Book were revealed. He is the intimate friend of Allah, His chosen one, His Messenger, and His beloved. Through him, Allah opened blind eyes, deaf ears, and sealed hearts, and brought people out of misguidance into guidance.

Therefore, the topic of today’s khutbah revolves around: Love of the Messenger – Between Following and Innovating.

O servants of Allah: Thawbān, the freed servant of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, had immense love for him and could hardly bear to be away from him. One day he came to the Prophet ﷺ with a changed complexion and weakened body, and sadness was visible on his face. The Prophet ﷺ asked him: “What has changed your color?” He replied: “O Messenger of Allah, I have no pain or illness, except that whenever I do not see you, I long for you and feel such intense loneliness until I meet you. Then I remember the Hereafter, and I fear that I will not see you there, for I know that you will be raised among the Prophets, while if I enter Paradise I will be at a rank lower than yours, and if I do not enter it, then I will never see you again.” Upon that, Allah the Almighty revealed:
﴿وَمَنْ يُطِعِ اللَّهَ وَالرَّسُولَ فَأُوْلَئِكَ مَعَ الَّذِينَ أَنْعَمَ اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِمْ مِنَ النَّبِيِّينَ وَالصِّدِّيقِينَ وَالشُّهَدَاءِ وَالصَّالِحِينَ وَحَسُنَ أُوْلَئِكَ رَفِيقًا﴾ (النساء: 69)
“And whoever obeys Allah and the Messenger – they will be with those upon whom Allah has bestowed favor of the prophets, the steadfast affirmers of truth, the martyrs, and the righteous. And excellent are those as companions.” (An-Nisāʾ 4:69)

O servants of Allah, Allah favored mankind and jinn with our Prophet Muhammad ﷺ, sending him to both. Through him, Allah opened blind eyes, deaf ears, and sealed hearts, bringing people from misguidance to guidance.

Indeed, Muhammad ﷺ was the noblest of people in lineage, the most honorable in rank. Allah manifested through him miracles that astounded minds: the moon was split for him into two halves, animals spoke in his presence, food glorified Allah and increased in his hands, stones and trees greeted him, and he foretold unseen matters which came true during his life and after his passing. He conveyed the message in the most perfect manner, fulfilled the trust in the best way, sincerely advised the Ummah, and strove in Allah’s cause with true striving.

It is Muhammad ﷺ whom Allah distinguished among his fellow Messengers with unique qualities beyond count. To him belongs al-Wasīlah (the highest station in Paradise), al-Faḍīlah (virtue), al-Maqām al-Maḥmūd (the praised station), the Banner of Praise, and he will be the first from whom the earth will split open on the Day of Resurrection, the first for whom the gates of Paradise will be opened, the first to intercede, and the first whose intercession will be accepted. He is the master of the children of Adam altogether. His Lord purified him with a refinement never granted to anyone else among creation.

Allah purified his intellect, saying:
﴿مَا ضَلَّ صَاحِبُكُمْ وَمَا غَوَى﴾ (النجم: 2)
“Your companion has not strayed, nor has he erred.” (An-Najm 53:2)

He purified his speech, saying:
﴿وَمَا يَنْطِقُ عَنِ الْهَوَى﴾ (النجم: 3)
“Nor does he speak from [his own] desire.” (An-Najm 53:3)

He purified his legislation, saying:
﴿إِنْ هُوَ إِلَّا وَحْيٌ يُوحَى﴾ (النجم: 4)
“It is nothing but a revelation revealed.” (An-Najm 53:4)

He purified his heart, saying:
﴿مَا كَذَبَ الْفُؤَادُ مَا رَأَى﴾ (النجم: 11)
“The heart did not lie about what it saw.” (An-Najm 53:11)

He purified his sight, saying:
﴿مَا زَاغَ الْبَصَرُ وَمَا طَغَى﴾ (النجم: 17)
“The sight did not swerve, nor did it transgress.” (An-Najm 53:17)

He purified his Companions, saying:
﴿وَالَّذِينَ مَعَهُ أَشِدَّاءُ عَلَى الْكُفَّارِ رُحَمَاءُ بَيْنَهُمْ تَرَاهُمْ رُكَّعًا سُجَّدًا يَبْتَغُونَ فَضْلًا مِنَ اللَّهِ وَرِضْوَانًا سِيمَاهُمْ فِي وُجُوهِهِمْ مِنْ أَثَرِ السُّجُودِ ذَلِكَ مَثَلُهُمْ فِي التَّوْرَاةِ وَمَثَلُهُمْ فِي الإِنْجِيلِ كَزَرْعٍ أَخْرَجَ شَطْأَهُ فَآزَرَهُ فَاسْتَغْلَظَ فَاسْتَوَى عَلَى سُوقِهِ يُعْجِبُ الزُّرَّاعَ لِيَغِيظَ بِهِمُ الْكُفَّارَ وَعَدَ اللَّهُ الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا وَعَمِلُوا الصَّالِحَاتِ مِنْهُمْ مَغْفِرَةً وَأَجْرًا عَظِيمًا﴾ (الفتح: 29)
“Muhammad is the Messenger of Allah; and those with him are strong against the disbelievers, merciful among themselves. You see them bowing and prostrating, seeking bounty from Allah and His pleasure. Their mark is on their faces from the effect of prostration. That is their description in the Torah. And their description in the Gospel is like a seed that sprouts its shoot, then strengthens it, so it becomes stout and stands firmly on its stalk, delighting the farmers, so that He may enrage the disbelievers through them. Allah has promised those among them who believe and do righteous deeds forgiveness and a great reward.” (Al-Fatḥ 48:29)

He purified his call, saying:
﴿قُلْ هَذِهِ سَبِيلِي أَدْعُوا إِلَى اللَّهِ عَلَى بَصِيرَةٍ أَنَا وَمَنِ اتَّبَعَنِي وَسُبْحَانَ اللَّهِ وَمَا أَنَا مِنَ الْمُشْرِكِينَ﴾ (يوسف: 108)
“Say, ‘This is my way; I invite to Allah with insight, I and those who follow me. And exalted is Allah, and I am not of the polytheists.’” (Yūsuf 12:108)

Muhammad ﷺ, whose virtues cannot be enumerated and whose merits cannot be counted. There is no trait of perfection except that he possessed it, and no quality of goodness except that he embodied it. Allah gathered for him the most exalted stations, the highest ranks, and the most complete virtues. If servants are mentioned, he is their leader. If scholars are pointed to, he is their teacher. If the brave are praised, he is their commander. If the callers to Allah are lauded, he is their role model.

It is in these noble qualities that Allah commanded us to follow him and take him as an example, as He said:
﴿لَقَدْ كَانَ لَكُمْ فِي رَسُولِ اللهِ أُسْوَةٌ حَسَنَةٌ لِمَنْ كَانَ يَرْجُو اللهَ وَالْيَوْمَ الْآخِرَ وَذَكَرَ اللهَ كَثِيرًا﴾ (الأحزاب: 21)
“Indeed in the Messenger of Allah you have an excellent example for whoever hopes for Allah and the Last Day and remembers Allah often.” (Al-Aḥzāb 33:21)

And He said:
﴿وَمَا آتَاكُمُ الرَّسُولُ فَخُذُوهُ وَمَا نَهَاكُمْ عَنْهُ فَانْتَهُوا وَاتَّقُوا اللهَ إِنَّ اللهَ شَدِيدُ الْعِقَابِ﴾ (الحشر: 7)
“And whatever the Messenger gives you – take it; and whatever he forbids you from – refrain from it. And fear Allah; indeed, Allah is severe in penalty.” (Al-Ḥashr 59:7)

O servants of Allah, true faith will not be complete in our hearts, nor will we taste its sweetness, nor feel true spiritual peace and tranquility, until we love the Prophet ﷺ more than we love ourselves, our families, our wealth, and all of the world. Allah the Almighty said:
﴿قُلْ إِنْ كُنْتُمْ تُحِبُّونَ اللهَ فَاتَّبِعُونِي يُحْبِبْكُمُ اللهُ وَيَغْفِرْ لَكُمْ ذُنُوبَكُمْ وَاللهُ غَفُورٌ رَحِيمٌ﴾ (آل عمران: 31)
“Say, ‘If you truly love Allah, then follow me, Allah will love you and forgive your sins. And Allah is Forgiving, Merciful.’” (Āl ʿImrān 3:31)

And Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) reported that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said:
«لاَ يُؤْمِنُ أَحَدُكُمْ، حَتَّى أَكُونَ أَحَبَّ إِلَيْهِ مِنْ وَالِدِهِ وَوَلَدِهِ وَالنَّاسِ أَجْمَعِينَ»
“None of you truly believes until I am more beloved to him than his father, his child, and all of mankind.” (Agreed upon)

This hadith is among the clearest evidences of the obligation of loving the Messenger ﷺ, for a believer does not deserve the name of complete faith, nor is he counted among the saved, until the Messenger ﷺ is more beloved to him than his father, his child, and all people.

Dear servants of Allah, from the requirements of this love is that the commands and prohibitions of the Messenger ﷺ must take precedence over every other command and prohibition, in all matters of virtues, morals, and guidance—whether in hardship or ease, in times of difficulty or gratitude, whether the matter is hard or easy, in trial or blessing, in hunger or satiety, in hardship or prosperity, in enthusiasm or reluctance, in wealth or poverty, in anger or contentment, in sadness or joy. In all of these situations, we must give precedence to the love of the Messenger ﷺ.

His Companions (may Allah be pleased with them) loved him with a love the likes of which history has never recorded. ʿAlī ibn Abī Ṭālib (may Allah be pleased with him) was asked: “How was your love for the Messenger of Allah ﷺ?” He replied: “By Allah, he was more beloved to us than our wealth, our children, our fathers and mothers, and even more beloved to us than cool water when thirsty.”

Shaykh al-Islām Ibn Taymiyyah (may Allah have mercy on him) said: “The reason why loving the Prophet ﷺ and honoring him is obligatory more than any other person is because the greatest good in this world and the Hereafter can only be attained through him—by believing in him and following him. For no one can be saved from the punishment of Allah, nor attain His mercy, except through the Messenger—by believing in him, loving him, supporting him, and following him.” (Majmūʿ al-Fatāwā, vol. 27)

And among the requirements of this love is that a Muslim increases in mentioning him, sending prayers and salutations upon him, longing to see him, yearning to meet him, asking Allah to allow him to be united with him upon faith, and to gather him with his beloved in the abode of His mercy. The Prophet ﷺ informed that in this ummah there will be those who would wish to see him even at the cost of all they own. Muslim narrated in his Ṣaḥīḥ from Abū Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said:

«مِنْ أَشَدِّ أُمَّتِي لِي حُبًّا، نَاسٌ يَكُونُونَ بَعْدِي، يَوَدُّ أَحَدُهُمْ لَوْ رَآنِي بِأَهْلِهِ وَمَالِهِ»
“Among those who will love me most from my ummah are people who will come after me, each of whom would wish to see me even if it meant sacrificing his family and wealth.” (Muslim)

O Muslims, the true proof of loving the Prophet ﷺ is to honor him, revere him, and obey him, as well as to honor what he brought of the pure and easy religion—without excessiveness and without negligence—as it was understood and practiced by the righteous predecessors of this ummah. Love for him ﷺ is action, steadfastness, following, sacrifice, and devotion to this religion. It is also affection, yearning, and longing. This love necessitates obeying him, honoring him, referring to his legislation, following his guidance and Sunnah, respecting him, defending him, supporting him in his life and after his death, and praising him as he deserves.

O Muslims, some people claim to love the Prophet ﷺ, yet when you look at their words and actions you find them contradicting his teachings and guidance. The true Muslim’s connection to Muhammad ﷺ is constant and in all circumstances: in his wuḍūʾ and prayer, in his fasting, ḥajj, and zakāh, in all his dealings, in his eating, drinking, sleeping, waking, in all his morals, conduct, and behavior—he follows his beloved ﷺ.

Indeed, love of the Messenger ﷺ is not merely words and praises recited occasionally, or in reviving one night of the year with litanies, singing of praise-poems, and Sufi chants, or with festivals and dances. Rather, it means obeying him—not what some imagine of annual celebrations that are in reality a form of opposition. Allah the Exalted says:

﴿فَلْيَحْذَرِ الَّذِينَ يُخَالِفُونَ عَنْ أَمْرِهِ أَنْ تُصِيبَهُمْ فِتْنَةٌ أَوْ يُصِيبَهُمْ عَذَابٌ أَلِيمٌ﴾ (النور: 63)
“So let those beware who dissent from his command, lest a trial strike them or a painful punishment.” (An-Nūr 24:63)

And as the poet said:
If your love were true, you would obey him;
For indeed, the lover is always obedient to the one he loves.

And indeed, some people have deviated from the path of Allah when they became ignorant of His religion. They began to approve of deeds by which they seek closeness to Allah under the name of love for the Messenger ﷺ, even though Allah never legislated them, and for which they have neither evidence from the Book of Allah nor proof from the Sunnah of His Messenger ﷺ. Allah says:

﴿أَمْ لَهُمْ شُرَكَاءُ شَرَعُوا لَهُمْ مِّنَ الدِّينِ مَا لَمْ يَأْذَنْ بِهِ اللَّهُ﴾ (الشورى: 21)
“Or do they have partners who have legislated for them in religion that which Allah has not permitted?” (Ash-Shūrā 42:21)

And ʿĀʾishah (may Allah be pleased with her) reported: The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said:

«مَن عَمِلَ عَمَلاً لَيْسَ عَلَيْهِ أَمْرُنَا فَهُوَ رَدٌّ» (رواه مسلم)
“Whoever does an action that is not in accordance with our matter will have it rejected.” (Narrated by Muslim)

Meaning: whoever performs a deed not in line with our guidance and our Sharīʿah, it is rejected. Al-Nawawī (may Allah have mercy on him) said regarding this ḥadīth: “It is a great foundational principle of Islam, one of the concise statements of the Prophet ﷺ. It is explicit in rejecting innovations and newly invented matters.”

WARNING AGAINST THE DOUBTS RAISED ABOUT THE QUR’AN, THE SUNNAH, AND THE COMPANIONS, AND AL-AZHAR’S RESPONSE TO THEM

Honorable servants of Allah, a letter was sent to the Office of the Grand Shaykh of Al-Azhar from your brothers, the seekers of knowledge, mosque imams, and duʿāt of the Yoruba lands in southwestern Nigeria. In it, they complained about the dangerous doubts stirred in their lands by some who ascribe themselves to knowledge—doubts that led to the tearing apart of ranks and caused confusion and turmoil among the Muslims.

These brothers requested Al-Azhar to clarify the truth regarding these issues, and to issue scholarly and Sharʿī verdicts on fifteen major matters that were the cause of disputes, the stirring of doubts, and the igniting of fitan among people, so that the Muslims may have clarity about their religion, gather upon a united word, and hold firmly to sound knowledge and upright guidance.

The brothers also explained that among the main factors which contributed to the impact of these doubts on Muslim public opinion were several issues, which they summarized into three main points:

First: The fact that the person spreading these views sat on an old scholarly platform in the region, which gave him strong influence over the intellectual and religious public opinion of the country. This position cast upon his statements an aura of scholarly sanctity, leading to widespread acceptance among the Muslim masses.

Second: That this person ascribed his ideas and his persistent propagation of them to Al-Azhar al-Sharīf—and hardly appeared except clad in the white Azharī robe! Furthermore, he was supported by a large group of Azhar graduates who listed their connections among those backing his opinions and positions on these matters. This created for the ordinary Muslims the impression that these stances were official Azharī positions par excellence.

Third: Raising discussions about these issues has caused division, hostility, mutual rejection, and wide-scale discord among the Muslims of the Yoruba lands in southwestern Nigeria—because of the differing stances between those who support the one spreading these matters and those who oppose him.

Al-Azhar has responded to each issue with a clear and sufficient reply, a strong statement free of ambiguity or confusion. Today, due to the limited time and scope, we present to you one of these responses, as follows:

Question 1 – Does a Muslim need any statement/word after the Qur’an, based on Allah’s saying: “So in what statement after the Qur’an will they believe?” (Al-Mursalat: 50)

This question carries the insinuation of stripping the Sunnah of its authority. The response is twofold:

First: The noble verse does not indicate what the question suggests, such that one could base a positive or negative answer upon it. Its context is one of reproach and denunciation of the disbelievers who rejected faith, despite the Qur’an calling them to believe in Allah and the Last Day. The meaning of the verse is: they did not believe, despite all that Allah presented to them in His Qur’an, reminders through His signs, and news of resurrection and judgment on the Day of Qiyāmah. So in what speech, after the Qur’an, will they believe? This context is repeated in the Qur’an more than once, in Sūrat al-Aʿrāf, al-Jāthiyah, and al-Mursalāt, all of them revolving around the call to believe in Allah and the Last Day, and the condemnation of the disbelievers’ refusal.

Allah says:
﴿أَوَلَمْ يَنْظُرُوا فِي مَلَكُوتِ السَّماواتِ وَالْأَرْضِ وَما خَلَقَ اللَّهُ مِنْ شَيْءٍ وَأَنْ عَسى أَنْ يَكُونَ قَدِ اقْتَرَبَ أَجَلُهُمْ فَبِأَيِّ حَدِيثٍ بَعْدَهُ يُؤْمِنُونَ﴾ (الأعراف: 185)
“Do they not look into the realm of the heavens and the earth, and everything that Allah has created, and [think] that perhaps their appointed time has come near? So in what statement after this will they believe?” (Al-Aʿrāf 7:185)

And He says:
﴿تِلْكَ آياتُ اللَّهِ نَتْلُوها عَلَيْكَ بِالْحَقِّ فَبِأَيِّ حَدِيثٍ بَعْدَ اللَّهِ وَآياتِهِ يُؤْمِنُونَ﴾ (الجاثية: 6)
“These are the verses of Allah which We recite to you in truth. Then in what statement after Allah and His verses will they believe?” (Al-Jāthiyah 45:6)

And He says:
﴿وَإِذا قِيلَ لَهُمُ ارْكَعُوا لَا يَرْكَعُونَ (48) وَيْلٌ يَوْمَئِذٍ لِلْمُكَذِّبِينَ (49) فَبِأَيِّ حَدِيثٍ بَعْدَهُ يُؤْمِنُونَ (50)﴾ (المرسلات: 48-50)
“And when it is said to them, ‘Bow [in prayer],’ they do not bow. (48) Woe that Day to the deniers. (49) Then in what statement after this will they believe?” (Al-Mursalāt 77:48–50)

Second: Even if we were to hypothetically concede that these verses indicate the sufficiency of Allah’s speech, which is the Qur’an, the believer in the Qur’an is necessarily obliged to refer also to the ḥadīth of the Prophet ﷺ, or his Sunnah. This is because Allah commanded in the Qur’an that His Messenger ﷺ be obeyed and followed.

Allah says:
﴿يَا أَيُّهَا الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا أَطِيعُوا اللَّهَ وَرَسُولَهُ وَلَا تَوَلَّوْا عَنْهُ وَأَنْتُمْ تَسْمَعُونَ﴾ (الأنفال: 20)
“O you who have believed, obey Allah and His Messenger, and do not turn away from him while you hear [his order].” (Al-Anfāl 8:20)

And He says:
﴿وَما آتاكُمُ الرَّسُولُ فَخُذُوهُ وَما نَهاكُمْ عَنْهُ فَانْتَهُوا وَاتَّقُوا اللَّهَ إِنَّ اللَّهَ شَدِيدُ الْعِقابِ﴾ (الحشر: 7)
“And whatever the Messenger gives you, take it; and whatever he forbids you, refrain from it. And fear Allah; indeed, Allah is severe in penalty.” (Al-Ḥashr 59:7)

And He says:
﴿قُلْ إِنْ كُنْتُمْ تُحِبُّونَ اللَّهَ فَاتَّبِعُونِي يُحْبِبْكُمُ اللَّهُ وَيَغْفِرْ لَكُمْ ذُنُوبَكُمْ وَاللَّهُ غَفُورٌ رَحِيمٌ﴾ (آل عمران: 31)
“Say, ‘If you love Allah, then follow me; Allah will love you and forgive you your sins. And Allah is Forgiving, Merciful.’” (Āl ʿImrān 3:31)

And Allah says:
﴿وَما يَنْطِقُ عَنِ الْهَوَى (3) إِنْ هُوَ إِلَّا وَحْيٌ يُوحى﴾ (النجم: 3-4)
“Nor does he speak from [his own] desire. (3) It is nothing but a revelation revealed.” (An-Najm 53:3–4)

And Allah knows best.

We ask Allah, Exalted be He, to show us the truth as truth and grant us following it, and to show us falsehood as falsehood and grant us avoiding it.

THE SECOND SERMON

All praise is due to Allah, Lord of the worlds, the One who responds to the supplication of the distressed when means are cut off, hopes are lost, and efforts fail. At that moment, the servant flees to the One from whom there is no refuge and no escape except to Him; and he finds Him easing what is difficult, softening what is harsh, and facilitating what is stubborn—remembering the verse of Allah:

﴿أَمَّنْ يُجِيبُ الْمُضْطَرَّ إِذَا دَعَاهُ وَيَكْشِفُ السُّوءَ…﴾ (النمل: 62)
“Is He [not best] who responds to the desperate one when he calls upon Him and removes evil…” (An-Naml 27:62)

Honored servants of Allah, know that Allah has promised to answer the distressed when he calls upon Him. The reason is that this state of necessity arises when all doors of relief are closed before him. His turning sincerely to Allah alone carries the heat of tawḥīd. When the servant severs himself from everything other than Allah, he becomes truthful in his devotion and request—and truthfulness with Allah has a special status and station. Whoever is truthful is never forsaken.

Therefore, O noble servants of Allah, we raise our hands together, with the blessing of unity and gathering upon good, after the prayer on this best day of the week, for our brothers in Gaza. For the worldly causes presented by those in charge have failed to lift the suffering of our brothers there, and we are left with nothing before us except the causes of the heavens, and one of the greatest doors of victory: supplication, with poverty and humility before Allah the Exalted. He says:

﴿وَقَالَ رَبُّكُمُ ادْعُونِي أَسْتَجِبْ لَكُمْ إِنَّ الَّذِينَ يَسْتَكْبِرُونَ عَنْ عِبَادَتِي سَيَدْخُلُونَ جَهَنَّمَ دَاخِرِينَ﴾ (غافر: 60)
“And your Lord says: Call upon Me, I will respond to you. Indeed, those who disdain My worship will enter Hell [rendered] contemptible.” (Ghāfir 40:60)

This call is a message from the International Union of Muslim Scholars to all of us—that we dedicate our supplications today for our distressed brothers in the land of dignity (Palestine). For their trial is our trial, and their suffering is for our sake. The Prophet ﷺ said: “Allah is in the aid of His servant so long as the servant is in the aid of his brother.” And he said: “Whoever does not concern himself with the affairs of the Muslims is not one of them.”

So we ask Allah, Glorified and Exalted, to grant us and our brothers a mighty and manifest victory in the soonest time possible. For there is no solution, no power, and no strength for us except through Him.

Supplication:
O Allah, grant honor to Islam and the Muslims, and humiliate shirk and the polytheists. Destroy the enemies of the religion, and protect the sanctity of the faith, O Lord of the worlds. O Allah, grant victory to those who strive in Your path, unite their hearts, strengthen their ranks, and grant them success in following Your Book and the Sunnah of Your Prophet. O Allah, prepare for us the means to liberate al-Masjid al-Aqṣā, and guide the Muslims—leaders and people alike—to establish Your Sharīʿah and support Your religion.

O Allah, deal with the transgressing Jews, and those among the Christians and hypocrites who support them. O Allah, exact Your vengeance upon them, scatter their unity, shake their feet, and send down upon them Your punishment which none can repel from the criminal people. Indeed, You are the One who answers supplications, most worthy of response, and fully capable over all things.

And may Allah’s blessings and peace be upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions altogether.
