The paradise is referred to in the Shariah of Islam as “Dar-ul-Qaraar” (Home of Bliss). The existence of Paradise is part of Muslims’ general belief in the unseen and specific belief in the Hereafter.

Being the highest reward for righteous believers, Allah gave vivid description of the blissful abode in His Book (i.e. Qur’an). These descriptions are being given in similitude to worldly material enjoyments only to aid the human mind to comprehend in comparison; the least of its blessings is far superior to any worldly enjoyments.

  1. It is the pleasure of Allah

The requirement for admission into paradise is the pleasure of Allah which is attainable after forgiveness and mercy, therefore, a Muslim should hasten towards all that lead to His forgiveness in beliefs and actions. Have correct belief and work righteousness

“Allah will say: This is a day in which the truthful will profit from their truth. Theirs are gardens, with rivers flowing beneath – their eternal Home. Allah is well-pleased with them, and they with Allah. That is the great salvation”[1]

  1. It is peace

The angels of Allah will enter into the garden and extend greetings of peace to the believers. All internal forces that threaten the inner peace of man like hatred and anger will vanish and the believers will be left with positive emotions and wonderful experiences in their eternal abode.

And We shall remove from their breasts any hatred or sense of injury; beneath them will be rivers flowing; – and They shall say: “Praise be to Allah, who guided us to this (joy): never could we have found guidance, had it not been for the guidance of Allah. Indeed it was the truth that the apostles of Our Lord brought unto us.” And they shall Hear the cry: “Behold! the Garden before you; you have been made its inheritors, for your deeds (of righteousness).”[2]

“Gardens of perpetual bliss: they shall enter there, as well as the righteous among their fathers, their spouses, and their offspring. Angels shall enter from every gate (with the salutation): ‘Peace be with you, that you persevered in patience. Now how excellent is the final home!”[3]

“They will not hear therein ill speech or commission of sin. But only the saying of: ‘Peace! Peace!'”[4]

That is the characteristics of gardens design for humans to relax and spend their leisure time. It shows how much love human beings have for greenery and waters; it pleases the soul and reliefs the heart.

“But give glad tidings to those who believe and work righteousness, that their portion is gardens, beneath which rivers flow”[5]

“Be quick in the race for forgiveness from your Lord, and for a garden whose width is that (of the whole) of the heavens and of the earth, prepared for the righteous”[6]

“Allah promised to believers, men and women, gardens under which rivers flow, to dwell therein, and beautiful mansions in gardens of

everlasting bliss. But the greatest bliss is the good pleasure of Allah. That is the supreme felicity (joy)”[7]

  1. A place of Dignity high above

They will recline (with ease) on thrones (of dignity) arranged in ranks; and we shall join them to companions, with beautiful and lustrous eyes.

“They and their associates will be in groves of (cool) shade, reclining on Thrones (of dignity). Every fruit (enjoyment) will be there for them; they shall have whatever they call for”[8]

“In a lofty Paradise, where they shall neither hear harmful speech nor falsehood. Therein will be a running spring. Therein will be thrones raised high, and cups set at hand. And cushions set in rows, and rich carpets (all) spread out”[9]

  1. Lots of foods & drinks

“… Every time they are fed with fruits therefrom, they say: ‘Why, this is what we were fed before,’ for they are given things in similitude…”[10]

“Therein you shall have (all) that your innerselves desire, and therein you shall have all for which you ask. An entertainment from Allah, the OftForgiving, Most Merciful”[11]

“Eat and drink at ease for that which you have sent forth (good deeds) in days past!”[12]

(Here is) a parable of the Garden which the righteous are promised: In it are rivers of water incorruptible; rivers of milk of which the taste never changes; rivers of wine, a joy to those who drink; and rivers of honey pure and clear. In it there are for them all kinds of fruits; and Grace from their Lord. (Can those in such bliss) be compared to such As shall dwell forever In the fire, and be given, to drink, boiling water, so that it cuts up their bowels (to pieces)?[13]

 It is an eternal abode

“But those who have faith and work righteousness, they are companions of the garden. Therein shall they abide forever”[14]

“For such the reward is forgiveness from their Lord, and Gardens with rivers flowing underneath – an eternal dwelling. How excellent a recompense for those who work (and strive)!”[15]

 Honourable escort

While the dwellers of hell will be dragged to it in humiliation, the inhabitants of paradise will enjoy the company of compassionate angels as entourage leading them into their eternal abode.

and those who kept their duty to their Lord will be led to Paradise In groups, till, when they reach it, and its gates will be opened (before their arrival for their reception) and its keepers will say: peace be upon you! You have done well, so enter here to abide therein.”[16]

 The survivors from Hell

The negligent believers who scored too low on righteousness and their wilful criminalities and corruption were beyond intercession will be in hell as long as Allah wishes according to their level of crimes. After they finished their terms in hell, they will be taken to a river for bath in order to wash away the horrible traces of hell from them before admitting them into paradise. The river is not too far from paradise. May Allah guard our true belief; assist us on righteousness and save us from the least bit of hell.
