BEING THE SERMON FOR THE
BLESSED E’ID AL-ADHA FOR THE YEAR 1442 AH (2021CE) DATED 10/12/1442AH (20-07-2021)

Allah is the greatest. Allah is the greatest. Allaah is great Allaah is great. Allaah is the greatest. Allaah is great Allaah is great. Allah is the greatest. Allah is the greatest, there is no god worthy of worship except Allah. Allaah is the greatest. Allah is the greatest. All praises belong to Allah. All praises belong to Allah, by Whose grace all good deeds are accomplished. He who guided us to this Deen. We would not have been guided if it weren’t for Allah. I testify that there is no god worthy of worship except Allah alone. He has no partner. He set is apart with the best book ever revealed, and honoured us with the best prophet ever raised, and he completed His Favours on us we with the greatest religion, the religion of Islam: "Today I have completed your religion for you and perfected My favor upon you and chosen for you Islam as a religion…" (Al- Maaidah:3). I bear witness that Muhammad is His slave and Messenger. He discharged the trust and fully delivered the message. He admonished the nation, and strove in the Cause of Allah in the best way,and he left us on a vibrant path that is clear. Its nights are are as clear as its days. None deviates from it except only the one that perishes. Oh Allah, grant him your peace and benediction and bless this noble Prophet, and his family and companions. Oh Allah! Enliven us on his Sunnah and our nation on his path, and gather is together in his company with those whom You have blessed among the prophets and the truthful ones and martyrs and the righteous ones. And indeed these are excellent companions.
Thereafter,, Oh you muslim brothers, this is the day of Eid al-Adha. The greatest day of Hajj. The day of the great gathering together, in which muslims stand in their Hiraam garments, objectifying themselves for Allah Ta’alah, shouting the Talbiyah: " Labaika Allaahumah labayk…."
This is greatest day of Hajj. It is the second E’id of Muslims. For Muslims, there is no other E’id beside these two except the weekly E’id on Fridays. Allah Ta’alah linked both E’id to one of the major acts of worship, and one of the great rites of Islam. The first E’id comes right after the worship of fasting, and the second E’id comes after the worship of Hajj, after people had accomplished the obligations, or this ritual, having to stand in A’rafah, after they came out of their homes and left their families and loved ones, being migrants for the sake of Almighty Ta’alah.
So it is as if the E’id celebration, in both al-Fitr and al-Adha are prizes or reward from Allah Ta’alah for His slaves, like a divine award to them, what they accomplished of good deeds in obligatory fasting and Hajj.
The divine and human objectives in the E’id celebrations in Islam:
These are the feasts for us Muslims, in which the divine objective is manifested as human objectives are also manifested. The divine objective is manifested in it by linking it to i’baadah. It is a celebration with prayers and glorifying Allah. People knew some other celebrations that is from their own desires and just pursuit of pleasure, but we Muslims begin our E’id celebration with Takbeer and prayer to Allah on the day of Eid before any other thing.
Thus we are as Muslims, our E’id celebration, is about glorifying Allah and praying to Him. We do not proclaim the name of any created being but rather we proclaim the name of Allaah alone. While other people proclaim the name of other creatures -small or big- Muslims in their E’id festivals say: Allahu Akbar Allahu Akbar. This is the beauty of our E’id celebrations: “Adorn your E’id celebration with Takbeer” (al-Tabarani). Allaah is the greatest, Allaah is the greatest, Allaah is the greatest, there is no god worthy of worship except Allah. Allah is the greatest, Allah is the greatest, and to Allaah belong all praises.
For Eid al-Fitr, Allaah Ta’alah says: " … and to glorify Allah for what He has guided you to, and that you may be grateful" {Baqarah:185}. For E’id al-Adha, our Prophet Muhammad (Peace and Blessings of Allah be upon him) instructed us to say Takbeer after every salaat since the dawn of the day of ‘Arafah to the ASR of the last day of Tashreeq (ie twenty-three prayers). In twenty-three prayers, the Muslim will say the Takbeer every time he performs the prayer: aah is the greatest, Allaah is the greatest, Allaah is the greatest, there is no god worthy of worship except Allah. Allah is the greatest, Allah is the greatest, and to Allaah belong all praises.
This is how the two major objectives are manifested in our E’id celebrations: the divine meaning that attaches the celebration to a celebration of Faith.
The human objective: it is that a person should not forget his brother, that he should not be happy alone, that he should not be selfish.

Sacrifice on Eid Al-Adha:
The Eid al-Adha festival of sacrifice was legislated, making it a Sunnah of its Sunnahs. Rather, Imam Abu Hanifa regard it as one of the obligations for those with the ability and ease to do it. The Muslim sacrifice to expands on himself and his family, and expands to its neighbors and loved ones, then expands to the poor around him, they do not live as one who eat alone.
Boycotting Israeli-Jewish merchandise:
Among proven fact in the Qur’an and the Sunnah and the consensus of the Ummah is the imperativeness of Jihad to liberate the land of Islam which is being invaded and occupied by the enemies of Islam and a divine duty firstly upon the people of the conquered territory, then upon the Muslims around them if they are unable to resist, until all the Muslims are all included. How then would it be, if this conquered islamic land is the first qiblah (prayer direction) of the Muslims, and the destination land of the Israa and Mi’raj, the land of Al-Aqsa Mosque, which Allah has blessed its surroundings. And what if its invaders were the most hostile to those who believed? (وَإِنِ اسْتَنْصَرُوكُمْ فِي الدِّينِ فَعَلَيْكُمُ النَّصْرُ) “And if they seek help of you for the religion, then you must help.” (Suratul Anfaal: 72). (وَتَعَاوَنُوا عَلَى الْبِرِّ وَالتَّقْوَى) “And cooperate in righteousness and piety” (Suratul-Maidah: 2). Among the means of this cooperation is to completely boycott the goods of the enemy. For every naira or dollar or dirham or penny we spend to buy their products in the end turns into a bullet fired against our brothers and our sons in Palestine.
Our message to the nation’s scholars: Warning the scholars against engaging in social media chaos:
O Muslims, among the contemporary divine blessings is the social media, such as: Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, WhatsApp, Youtube, etc. Each of these social media is a blessing and a means for teaching, learning and spreading the true Islamic call if we use it properly. What a pity! Some scholars in Yorubaland have abused these means, and have turned them into a stern sword against their enemies from among the scholars. Thus, social media has become arenas for war, insults, curses, slander and fabrications… Subhaanallah!!! We say to these scholars the words of Allah, the Almighty: (وَاتَّقُوا يَوْمًا تُرْجَعُونَ فِيهِ إِلَى اللَّهِ ثُمَّ تُوَفَّى كُلُّ نَفْسٍ مَا كَسَبَتْ وَهُمْ لَا يُظْلَمُونَ) “And fear a Day when you will be returned to Allah. Then every soul will be compensated for what it earned, and they will not be wronged [i.e., treated unjustly]” (Al-Baqarah: 28).
Dear scholars, oh you heirs of the Prophets, the bearers of the banner of propagation and guidance after the Prophets! Verily your responsibility in right propagation of this religion is great, and your stake in the reformation of our society is enormous, therefore we call on you to occupy the field of propagation and guidance, and beware of negligence in the performance of this responsibility or concealment of what you have been given the knowledge or isolating yourself from the community, the risk therein is devastating. Lend your ears to Allah’s instruction:
{إنَّ الّذِينَ يَكْتُمُونَ مَا أَنْزَلْنَا مِنَ الْبَيِّنَاتِ والْهُدَى مِنْ بَعْدِ مَا بَيَّنَّاهُ لِلناسِ فى الكتابِ أُولَئك يَلْعَنُهُمُ اللهُ وَيَلْعَنُهُمُ اللاَّعِنُونَ, إِلاَّ الَّذِينَ تَابُواْ وَأَصْلَحُواْ وَبَيَّنُواْ فَأُولئك أتُوبُ عَلَيهِم وَأَنَا التَّواب الرَّحِيمُ } (البقرة 1٥9_1٦0}
“Those who conceal the clear (Signs) We have sent down, and the Guidance, after We have made it clear for the people in the Book,-on them shall be Allah’s curse, and the curse of those entitled to curse, Except those who repent and make amends and openly declare (the Truth): To them I turn; for I am Oft-returning, Most Merciful. (2: 159- 160)

Let there arise out of you a band of people inviting to all that is good, enjoining what is right, and forbidding what is wrong: They are the ones to attain felicity. (3: 104)

The issue of national security:
O Believers: with security, life improves and flourishes… with security, hopes and livelihoods are facilitated, and trade increases. By it, development advances, knowledge and education spread. Religion and justice grow in glory, the righteous people gain authority over the wicked. Security is one of the reasons for stability. With security, funds are employed in every project that is beneficial to the individual and society, and job opportunities are available to all. That is why Allah made it one of the permanent bliss of the people of Paradise. The Almighty Allah said: (ادْخُلُوْهَا بِسَلامٍ آمِنِيْنَ) (Enter it in peace and security) and He also said (وَهُمْ فِيْ الْغُرُفَاتِ آَمِنُونَ) (and they will be in the upper chambers [of Paradise], safe [and secure]. (Surat Saba: 37).
One of the most important things we lose today in our beloved country Nigeria is national and social security. In the eastern part of Nigeria, there are: kidnapping, rape, enmity, and advocates of separatism and secession, and so on… The government – whether federal or states – must take care of the security of this country in its various types: the security of lives, religion, offspring, intellect, property, food, health, etc. The government must realise that achieving security and stability in the country is their inherent responsibility.

The unity of the Islamic nation: an obligation and a necessity:
Dear servants of Allah, it is necessary to understand the meaning of unity of the Islamic nation, it is an association Muslims based on the foundation of the religion, and its general principles, and their working together to uphold the word of Allah and the spread of His religion, and thus they actualize the true meaning of being a nation as The Exalted said: You are the best nation produced [as an example] for mankind. You enjoin what is right and forbid what is wrong and believe in Allah. If only the People of the Scripture had believed, it would have been better for them. Among them are believers, but most of them are defiantly disobedient.” (Al-Imran: 110)
Allah, the Exalted described the Muslims in the verse that they are the best nation and He mentioned the deserving factor to that status of the best nation and that is: enjoin what is right and forbid what is wrong and believe in Allah- the Exalted, And all these were mentioned in the plural form to indicate the necessity of their meeting and agreement.

The concept of unity in Islam:
The Almighty has said: (وَاعْتَصِمُوا بِحَبْلِ اللهِ جَمِيعاً وَلَا تَفَرَّقُوا وَاذْكُرُوا نِعْمَةَ اللهِ عَلَيْكُمْ إِذْ كُنْتُمْ أَعْدَاء فَأَلَّفَ بَيْنَ قُلُوبِكُمْ فَأَصْبَحْتُمْ بِنِعْمَتِهِ إِخْوَاناُ) “And hold firmly to the rope1 of Allah all together and do not become divided. And remember the favor of Allah upon you – when you were enemies and He brought your hearts together and you became, by His favor, brothers …” (Al-Imran: 103).
Islamic unity is cooperation between the followers of the Islamic schools of thought on the basis of the firm Islamic principles, and taking a single position in order to achieve the higher goals and interests of the Islamic nation, and a unified position towards its enemies while respecting the obligations of every Muslim towards his doctrine in belief and action.

The Invitation of the Conference of Islamic Organizations (CIO) to unifying the sermons on minbar:
Dear Muslims, and scholars working in the field of the Islamic call, the Conference of Islamic Organizations called in its last symposium held on Wednesday 26/Dhul-Qa’dah/1442 AH (7/7/2021) at Al-Sunnah Mosque, Latif Aribi Street, Ago Palace, Okota, Lagos, to unifying the sermon. The weekly and annual sermons, such as the weekly Friday sermon and the two annual Eid sermons. This step will be a step towards achieving a unity of understanding, which is the main topic of the symposium: towards a unity of understanding or towards a unified understanding, for He Allah, the Almighty said: (إنّ هَذِهِ أمَّتُكُمْ أُمّةً واحدة وأنا رَبّكُم فَاعبُدُونِ) “Indeed this, your religion, is one religion,1 and I am your Lord, so worship Me. “ (Al-Anbiya: 92).

The call for Nigeria’s secession is a corrupt and ugly call:
Brothers in faith, one of the current issues in our country, Nigeria, is the call of some citizens from the east and the west for the secession of Nigeria into smaller entities with no strong status in the world. Our beloved homeland, the giant of the continent of Africa, a homeland blessed with fertile lands, many and various mineral resources, human resources, intelligent and important personalities, and appropriate weather conditions. We say no!!! and no!!! to this ugly call and may Allah forbid!!! O Allah the Helper regarding what they said and describe!!! (My Lord, make this a safe country and provide its people with fruits)).

SECOND KHUTBAH
All praises are due to Allah. May the peace and blessing of Allah be upon Prophet Muhammad, his household, companions and believers till the end of time.
Advices for women:
Dear women of the believers, Allah says:
(The Believers, men and women, are protectors one of another: they enjoin what is just, and forbid what is evil: they observe regular prayers, practise regular charity, and obey Allah and His Messenger. On them will Allah pour His mercy: for Allah is Exalted in power, Wise.” 9:71

" O Muslim women, you represent half of the nation, or even more, therefore fear Allah in all your duties, be good to your children by giving them sound Islamic education, struggle with valour to train your children properly for success, because women have most impact on their children than the father. Be good to your husbands, guard your honour and theirs, spend provisions judiciously, and care for the rights of their relatives, guests and their neighbours. The Prophet (pbuh) said: “If a woman observes her five daily prayers, fasts the month (of Ramadan) and makes the pilgrimage to the house of her Lord, and preserves her privacy and obeys her husband, it will be said to her: "Enter Paradise from any of the doors you wish” narrated by Ahmad and Tabarani.

Oh Allah descend peace; flowing with continuous tranquility and security upon Nigeria and all other Muslim nations. O Allah accept the worship of the pilgrims of hajj and Umrah, and grant us all Your pleasure, And the last of our call will be, "Praise to Allah, Lord of the worlds!"
