NECESSITY OF EMULATING THE MESSENGER.

IN THE NAME OF ALLAH, THE MOST MERCIFUL, THE MOST COMPASSIONATE
THE THIRD KHUTBAH OF THE MONTH OF RABIʿ AL-AWWAL, DATED 19 RABIʿ AL-AWWAL 1447 AH CORRESPONDING TO 12TH SEPTEMBER, 2025 CE
TOPIC: THE NECESSITY OF EMULATING THE MESSENGER ﷺ IN ALL CIRCUMSTANCES AND DEALINGS

THE FIRST SERMON

All praise is due to Allah, the Lord of the worlds. We praise Him, Glorified and Exalted, we thank Him, we seek His help and guidance, and we seek His forgiveness and turn to Him in repentance. Whoever Allah guides, none can mislead, and whoever He leaves astray, none can guide. I bear witness that there is no deity worthy of worship except Allah alone, with no partner, and I bear witness that Muhammad is His servant and Messenger. O Allah, send prayers, peace, and blessings upon him, upon his family, his Companions, and upon all those who follow them with goodness until the Day of Judgment.

To proceed:
Dear servants of Allah, I advise you and myself – first and foremost, to have taqwa (piety and consciousness) of Allah, in secret and in the open. For taqwa is the ultimate goal behind all acts of worship, all obligations, and all prohibitions. Allah the Exalted says:

﴿يَا أَيُّهَا النَّاسُ اعْبُدُوا رَبَّكُمُ الَّذِي خَلَقَكُمْ وَالَّذِينَ مِنْ قَبْلِكُمْ لَعَلَّكُمْ تَتَّقُونَ﴾
“O mankind, worship your Lord, who created you and those before you, that you may become righteous.” (Al-Baqarah 2:21)

It is well known that having a good example (role model) is the foundational pillar of society. Indeed, it is an indispensable necessity in life, because it embodies the highest ideals for people to follow, enabling them to acquire positive traits, lofty values, and noble morals. This makes life upright, dignified, and virtuous, whether in one’s relationship with Allah through acts of worship and obligations, or with oneself in purifying and training it upon virtuous conduct, or with one’s family and children in building a cohesive household, or with society at large in matters of religion and worldly affairs.

And the best of all role models is the leader of the first and the last, our Prophet Muhammad ﷺ. Allah says:

“Indeed, in the Messenger of Allah you have an excellent example.” (Al-Ahzab 33:21)

And He, the Exalted, says:

﴿وَإِنَّكَ لَعَلَى خُلُقٍ عَظِيمٍ﴾
“And indeed, you are of a great moral character.” (Al-Qalam 68:4)

We also find the famous hadith of ʿĀʾishah, may Allah be pleased with her, which summarizes for us the character of the Prophet ﷺ. Saʿd ibn ʿĀmir asked Umm al-Muʾminīn ʿĀʾishah, may Allah be pleased with her: “O Mother of the Believers, inform me about the character of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ.” She replied: “Do you not recite the Qur’an?” He said: “Yes.” She said: “Then indeed, the character of the Prophet of Allah ﷺ was the Qur’an.” (Musnad Ahmad 24269, authentic as verified by the compilers of al-Mawsuʿah al-Hadithiyyah).

This very quality grants Islamic morals a unique value of singularity and eternity, because Allah, the Creator, has guaranteed the preservation of the source of these moral values. As He says:

“Indeed, it is We who sent down the Reminder, and indeed, We will be its guardian.” (Al-Hijr 15:9)

Indeed, in this noble Prophet ﷺ were gathered the highest peaks of human conduct. He was the only human being who truly deserves to be the supreme role model for mankind in his morals, his qualities, his dealings, and in all his conditions. A Muslim finds in his blessed biography both an example and a guiding power, a light by which one is illuminated amid the darkness of life, and the highest ideal that leads one to safety and eternal happiness.

Whoever reads the life of the Messenger ﷺ finds in it that he ﷺ was the chaste, upright youth, the truthful and trustworthy one, known among his people both before and after his mission for noble character and generous traits. He was the most honorable among his people, the best in conduct, the most truthful in speech, the purest in self-restraint, and the most faithful in keeping covenants.

One also finds in it that he ﷺ was the companion who loved his Companions, treated them kindly, humbled himself with them, accepted their invitations, visited their sick, attended their funerals, prayed for them and their children for goodness and blessing, joked and played with them, showed compassion for them, fulfilled their needs, united them rather than driving them away, cared for them, shared their pains and hopes, felt their sorrows and relieved them, turning their pain into hope and their trial into a gift.

Allah the Exalted says:

﴿فَبِمَا رَحْمَةٍ مِنَ اللَّهِ لِنْتَ لَهُمْ وَلَوْ كُنْتَ فَظًّا غَلِيظَ الْقَلْبِ لانْفَضُّوا مِنْ حَوْلِكَ فَاعْفُ عَنْهُمْ وَاسْتَغْفِرْ لَهُمْ وَشَاوِرْهُمْ فِي الْأَمْرِ﴾ (آل عمران: 159)
“So by mercy from Allah, you were gentle with them. And if you had been harsh and hard-hearted, they would have dispersed from around you. So pardon them, ask forgiveness for them, and consult them in the matter.” (Aal ʿImran 3:159)

Indeed, the Messenger of Allah ﷺ was a living embodiment of the morals and teachings of Islam. People saw Islam in him with their very eyes. He was the best teacher and the greatest role model in all of human history, the one whom our Lord, Glorified and Exalted, commanded us to obey, follow, and emulate.

Allah the Exalted says:

﴿وَمَا آتَاكُمُ الرَّسُولُ فَخُذُوهُ وَمَا نَهَاكُمْ عَنْهُ فَانْتَهُوا﴾ (الحشر: 7)
“And whatever the Messenger gives you—take it; and whatever he forbids you, refrain from it.” (Al-Hashr 59:7)

And He, Glorified, says:

﴿قُلْ إِنْ كُنْتُمْ تُحِبُّونَ اللَّهَ فَاتَّبِعُونِي يُحْبِبْكُمُ اللَّهُ وَيَغْفِرْ لَكُمْ ذُنُوبَكُمْ وَاللَّهُ غَفُورٌ رَحِيمٌ﴾ (آل عمران: 31)
“Say, if you love Allah, then follow me; Allah will love you and forgive you your sins. And Allah is Forgiving, Merciful.” (Aal ʿImran 3:31)

And He, Mighty in His Speech, says:

﴿لَقَدْ كَانَ لَكُمْ فِي رَسُولِ اللَّهِ أُسْوَةٌ حَسَنَةٌ لِمَنْ كَانَ يَرْجُو اللَّهَ وَالْيَوْمَ الْآخِرَ وَذَكَرَ اللَّهَ كَثِيرًا﴾ (الأحزاب: 21)
“There has certainly been for you in the Messenger of Allah an excellent example for anyone whose hope is in Allah and the Last Day and who remembers Allah often.” (Al-Ahzab 33:21)

Some of the benefits and results attained by following the Messenger of Allah ﷺ:

1. Attaining the love of Allah the Exalted. Allah says:
“Say, if you love Allah, then follow me; Allah will love you and forgive you your sins. And Allah is Forgiving, Merciful.” (Aal ʿImran 3:31)

2. Guidance and success. Allah says:
“And if you obey him, you will be guided. And upon the Messenger is only the clear conveyance [of the message].” (An-Nur 24:54)

3. Entering Paradise. The Prophet ﷺ said: “All of my nation will enter Paradise except those who refuse.” They said: “O Messenger of Allah, who would refuse?” He said: “Whoever obeys me will enter Paradise, and whoever disobeys me has refused.” (Al-Bukhari, 7280)

4. His companionship on the Day of Resurrection:
Anas ibn Mālik (may Allah be pleased with him) said:
“While I and the Messenger of Allah ﷺ were coming out of the mosque, we met a man at the gate of the mosque. He said: ‘O Messenger of Allah, when is the Hour?’ The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: ‘What have you prepared for it?’ The man seemed humbled and said: ‘O Messenger of Allah, I have not prepared much prayer, fasting, or charity for it, but I love Allah and His Messenger.’ He ﷺ said: ‘You will be with those whom you love.’ (Reported by Muslim)

5 – Attaining happiness in both worlds:
Indeed, the believer in Allah who follows the Messenger Muhammad ﷺ lives a life of tranquility, peace, and happiness. Allah the Exalted says:

﴿مَنْ عَمِلَ صَالِحًا مِنْ ذَكَرٍ أَوْ أُنْثَى وَهُوَ مُؤْمِنٌ فَلَنُحْيِيَنَّهُ حَيَاةً طَيِّبَةً وَلَنَجْزِيَنَّهُمْ أَجْرَهُمْ بِأَحْسَنِ مَا كَانُوا يَعْمَلُونَ﴾ (النحل: 97)
“Whoever does righteousness, whether male or female, while he is a believer – We will surely cause him to live a good life, and We will surely give them their reward [in the Hereafter] according to the best of what they used to do.” (An-Nahl 16:97)

6. Achieving balance between individuals and societies:
The biography of the beloved Prophet ﷺ, in all its authentic sources, aims at building the sound Islamic personality.

7. Salvation from deviation and misguidance:
The Prophet ﷺ said: “I have left you upon a clear, white path, its night like its day. None will deviate from it except one who is doomed.” (Reported by Ibn Mājah and authenticated by Al-Albānī)

8. Attaining noble character:
These encompass all that is good and righteous. Abū Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) reported that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: “I was only sent to perfect righteous character.” (Reported by Ahmad)

How greatly we need today to follow the example of the Prophet ﷺ in every field of life! Indeed, the Ummah today is in dire need of knowing the biography of our noble Prophet and emulating him in all his morals so that we may elevate individuals, communities, and institutions. And the best conclusion is to send blessings upon him ﷺ continually until the Day of Judgment:
May Allah’s peace and blessings be upon you, O best of creation; may Allah’s peace and blessings be upon him.

THE SECOND SERMON

All praise is due to Allah, Who commanded supporting the oppressed and promised relief for His patient servants. I bear witness that there is no deity but Allah, alone without partner, and I bear witness that Muhammad is His servant and Messenger. May Allah’s peace and blessings be upon him, his family, and all his Companions.

To proceed: O Muslims, I enjoin upon you and myself, first and foremost, the fear of Allah, for it is His counsel to the former and the latter.

O servants of Allah, what our brothers in Gaza and the West Bank are enduring of siege, starvation, displacement, and the killing of innocents is a heinous crime against humanity, before it is against Muslims. Homes are destroyed over the heads of their inhabitants, electricity, water, and medicine are cut off, and people are hunted in their homes and mosques, while much of the world fails to come to their aid.

Allah the Exalted says:

“And what is [the matter] with you that you fight not in the cause of Allah and for the oppressed among men, women, and children who say, ‘Our Lord, take us out of this city of oppressive people and appoint for us from Yourself a protector and appoint for us from Yourself a helper’?” (An-Nisa’ 4:75)

So let us increase in supplication for them, and let us revive in our hearts the duty of supporting them with wealth, with media, with truthful words, and with every means we can. For the Prophet ﷺ said: “The example of the believers in their mutual love, mercy, and compassion is like that of a single body; if one limb suffers, the whole body responds with sleeplessness and fever.” (Agreed upon)

Dear Muslims, what has recently occurred of a sinful Israeli raid launched by the Israeli army and the Shabak intelligence agency through air strikes, targeting the leadership of Hamas in Doha, Qatar, is an atrocious crime that reveals the extent of disregard for Muslim blood and the sovereignty of their nations.

This aggressive targeting is not directed at Hamas alone; rather, it is a stab in the heart of the entire Ummah. It confirms that the Zionist enemy does not refrain from violating any sanctity and does not value any law or covenant, so long as Muslims remain divided and weak.

Allah the Exalted says:

﴿إِنَّمَا الْمُؤْمِنُونَ إِخْوَةٌ فَأَصْلِحُوا بَيْنَ أَخَوَيْكُمْ وَاتَّقُوا اللَّهَ لَعَلَّكُمْ تُرْحَمُونَ﴾ [الحجرات: 10]
“The believers are but brothers, so make settlement between your brothers. And fear Allah that you may receive mercy.” (Al-Ḥujurāt 49:10)

And He, the Most High, says:

﴿وَاعْتَصِمُوا بِحَبْلِ اللَّهِ جَمِيعًا وَلَا تَفَرَّقُوا﴾ [آل عمران: 103]
“And hold firmly to the rope of Allah all together and do not become divided.” (Āl ʿImrān 3:103)

O servants of Allah, targeting the leaders of resistance in the heart of a safe Muslim land is a crime that deserves condemnation and rejection. It is a warning sign for this Ummah to awaken from its heedlessness, to unite its ranks, and to realize that its enemy is one and its battle is one.

And this Ummah has not been humiliated, nor have its enemies dared to transgress upon it, except when its word became divided and when it distanced itself from the path of its Lord. Allah the Almighty has warned us, saying:

﴿وَلَا تَنَازَعُوا فَتَفْشَلُوا وَتَذْهَبَ رِيحُكُمْ﴾ [الأنفال: 46]
“And do not dispute and [thus] lose courage and your strength would depart.” (Al-Anfāl 8:46)

So dear servants of Allah, call upon Allah with sincere hearts to unite the word of the Muslims, to lift affliction from them, and to grant victory to the mujahideen and the oppressed in Palestine and in all the lands of the Muslims. I say this, and I seek Allah’s forgiveness for myself and for you, so seek His forgiveness. Indeed, He is Ever-Forgiving, Most Merciful.

Supplication

O Allah, honor Islam and the Muslims.
O Allah, grant victory to the oppressed in Gaza and the West Bank.
O Allah, have mercy on their martyrs, heal their wounded, and free their captives.
O Allah, protect Qatar and all the lands of the Muslims from the plots of the enemies.
O Allah, turn the plots of the Zionists against themselves, intensify Your punishment upon them, and send down upon them Your might which cannot be repelled from the criminal people.

O Allah, grant victory to the mujahideen in Your path, unite their hearts, bring their ranks together, and guide them to follow Your Book and the Sunnah of Your Prophet ﷺ.
O Allah, prepare for us the means to liberate al-Masjid al-Aqṣā.
O Allah, guide the Muslims, both their leaders and their people, to establish Your Sharīʿah and to support Your religion.
O Allah, deal with the aggressing Jews and with those who support them from among the Christians and hypocrites.
O Allah, take vengeance upon them, divide their unity, shake their feet, and send down upon them Your punishment which is never turned back from the criminal people.

Indeed, You are the Answerer of supplications, worthy of answering, and fully capable of all things.
And may the peace and blessings of Allah be upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and all his Companions.
