FAREWELL TO A CHAMPION OF FAITH: SHEIKH MUHYDEEN AJANI BELLO (1940-2014)

The Muslim Congress (TMC) joins the Nigerian Muslim community in mourning the passing of a true pillar of faith, Sheikh Muhydeen Ajani Bello, who left this world on Friday, December 6th. Sheikh Bello, a pillar of Islamic scholarship and preaching, dedicated his life to spreading the message of peace, harmony, and righteousness. For decades, he captivated audiences with his profound knowledge of Islamic teachings, eloquently delivered with a captivating blend of wisdom and gentle wit. His sermons resonated with millions across the globe, inspiring countless individuals to embrace Islam and live by its principles.
Sheikh Bello’s legacy extends far beyond his powerful oratory. He was a tireless and fearless advocate for social justice, promoting understanding and cooperation among people of different faiths, and contributing to the moral upliftment of society. His frank admonitions continue to touch many lives, starkly reminding the people of the importance of integrity and solicitude.
The Muslim Congress recognizes Sheikh Bello’s immeasurable contributions to the Islamic faith and the wider society. His passing is a profound loss not only to the Muslim community but to Nigeria as a whole, which has lost a treasured gem in the realm of faith and leadership. As the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) said, “The best among you are those who benefit mankind.” Sheikh Bello truly embodied this noble principle. We offer our heartfelt condolences to his family, friends, and the entire Muslim Ummah. May Allah (SWT) grant him eternal peace and reward him for his exemplary service to Islam.
